Home › Guides › How to import a bank statement into QuickBooks Online
QuickBooks Online fills gaps in the bank feed from an uploaded file. For statement PDFs, the file has to be created first: convert the PDF to QuickBooks' three-column CSV, then upload it in the Banking center.
The usual causes are extra columns, dates in an unsupported format, or amounts with currency symbols or thousands separators. The converter's QuickBooks export is produced in the three-column layout to avoid exactly these errors.
Where the statement prints opening and closing (or running) balances, the converter adds up the extracted transactions and compares the result with the statement itself. If the numbers do not tie, the conversion is flagged and the mismatched rows are marked — a failed check is never shown as a success.
No. Uploaded files and generated exports are stored only briefly to complete the download and are automatically deleted within 15 minutes.
