Credit-card statements have their own layout — transaction and posting dates, Previous and New Balances. The converter reads it and verifies purchases and payments against those balances.
A credit-card statement opens with a Previous Balance and closes with a New Balance; payments reduce the balance and purchases increase it. The converter signs payments as negative amounts, keeps the transaction date (not the posting date), and checks that Previous Balance plus all transactions equals the New Balance.
