QuickBooks bank feeds only go back so far. Convert the older statement PDFs, reconcile them, and import the history QuickBooks is missing.
In a QuickBooks cleanup or catch-up, the missing months are usually the ones available only as PDFs from the bank's statement archive. Converting them by hand is the slowest part of the job.
Download every missing month's PDF from the bank, convert them in one batch, confirm each statement reconciles, then import the combined QuickBooks CSV. Work month by month in QuickBooks so each period ties to its statement before moving on.
These are the general steps most banks follow for statement downloads; exact menu labels vary by bank and change over time.
The converter flags the rows whose balances do not tie. Fix those against the PDF first — importing an unreconciled month just moves the problem into QuickBooks.
Where the statement prints opening and closing (or running) balances, the converter adds up the extracted transactions and compares the result with the statement itself. If the numbers do not tie, the conversion is flagged and the mismatched rows are marked — a failed check is never shown as a success.
