Statements first, spreadsheets second. What follows is how Stride Bank files its statements, how to download the exact periods a job requires, and how those PDFs become verified data.
Privacy: uploaded files and generated exports are stored only briefly to complete your download and are automatically deleted within 15 minutes. Files are never used for any other purpose.
These are the general steps most banks follow for statement downloads; exact menu labels vary by bank and change over time.
A month can be missing from an online archive for mundane reasons: the account opened or closed mid-cycle, the period statemented quarterly, or the document sits under a combined-statement view rather than the single account. Before concluding the month does not exist, check the neighbouring statements — if their balances chain across the gap, the period is covered by them. What genuinely cannot be downloaded can be requested as research copies from the bank.
Community-bank statements keep to the classic set: monthly statements for checking and savings with printed opening and closing balances and a running balance on most layouts, statements for CDs when they reach an interest or term event, and card statements on the Previous / New Balance pattern where the bank issues its own cards. Each type converts separately, against its own balances. Stride Bank statements typically present a single chronological history for each account, with opening and closing balances printed for the period. From its headquarters in Enid, Oklahoma, Stride Bank issues statements per account and per period through online banking.
A year of Stride Bank statements is twelve to thirteen files per account, and they will be reopened for months. Name them on a system the moment they land — account, then year-month of the closing date — and keep one folder per account inside one folder per year. The payoff comes at reconciliation time: a missing month shows up as a break in the file sequence before it shows up as a mystery in the numbers, and any single statement can be found in seconds when a flagged row needs checking against the original.
It adds the extracted transactions to the statement's opening balance and compares the result with the closing balance — and checks running balances row by row where printed. Downloads that do not tie are flagged, never passed silently.
Either reaches the statements, but the website's archive is often deeper and multi-month downloading is faster with a keyboard. Use the app for single recent months, the website for history.
Usually the download was interrupted, or the file is a print-view export rather than the issued PDF. Re-download from the statements area; if the bank offers both a print and a PDF option, take the PDF.
Statements close on a cycle date set by the bank, which is often a few days before or after month end. Work in statement periods when you import — the closing date on the document is the period's end, whatever the calendar says — and let the balance chain, not the calendar, tell you whether a month is missing.
Yes, the app reaches the same archive, and for a month or two it is the quickest route. For a year of history the website is usually faster: a deeper archive view, several downloads in a row, and files that land somewhere you can name and file properly.
