STCU is a member-owned credit union headquartered in Spokane, Washington. Its statements are issued to members as PDFs through online and mobile banking. Bookkeeping, applications and cleanups all start the same way: with the bank-issued statement PDF. This page is the field guide to getting yours out of STCU intact.
Privacy: uploaded files and generated exports are stored only briefly to complete your download and are automatically deleted within 15 minutes. Files are never used for any other purpose.
These are the general steps most banks follow for statement downloads; exact menu labels vary by bank and change over time.
When statements are wanted for an application — a mortgage file, a tenancy, a visa — completeness beats speed: underwriters and case workers read the pages in order and notice gaps. Download the full statements for every month requested, including the pages carrying balances and account identification, and keep the original PDFs unedited; annotations belong on copies. The converted files are for your own working numbers, never a substitute for the bank's document.
Credit unions statement the membership, not just the account: a STCU statement typically combines share savings, checking and sometimes loan activity in one document, opening with a summary of each account. When you convert, treat each account's section as its own statement — each carries its own balances and its own check. Members whose only account is a share savings account may be statemented quarterly rather than monthly, which matters when you are chaining a year together. A STCU member statement typically leads with a summary table — every share and loan account with its balance — before the transaction detail for each account begins. Headquartered in Spokane, Washington, STCU issues every account's statements through the same online banking platform.
A year of STCU statements is twelve to thirteen files per account, and they will be reopened for months. Name them on a system the moment they land — account, then year-month of the closing date — and keep one folder per account inside one folder per year. The payoff comes at reconciliation time: a missing month shows up as a break in the file sequence before it shows up as a mystery in the numbers, and any single statement can be found in seconds when a flagged row needs checking against the original.
Online archives typically cover several years. For older periods, request research copies from the bank — paper or scanned copies convert through OCR with the same balance check.
Separate months. Each monthly statement carries its own opening and closing balances, which is what the verification works from — and month-by-month files import in order without surgery.
Either reaches the statements, but the website's archive is often deeper and multi-month downloading is faster with a keyboard. Use the app for single recent months, the website for history.
Statements close on a cycle date set by the bank, which is often a few days before or after month end. Work in statement periods when you import — the closing date on the document is the period's end, whatever the calendar says — and let the balance chain, not the calendar, tell you whether a month is missing.
Thirteen per account: the twelve months of the year plus the December statement before it, whose closing balance proves the year's opening figure. Add any account that was open for part of the year, including ones closed mid-year.
